Hi Jerry,

Quick question for you about overlay maker.  Is it very feasible and or possible to have one overlay maker in the district and, but three locations with the keyboard? More specifically are we able to create custom overlays at one location and use them with classroom suite and the keyboard at another location by saving the created document to a disk?  Or do we need to have overlay maker at every location we have an adaptive keyboard?  We have tried the above creating an custom overlay and saving it to a disk then taking the overlay and the disk to another building and trying to use it on the adaptive keyboard, but can’t seem to make it work.

Thanks,

Corina Watt

 Hi Corina,

Yes, you can use one copy of Overlay Maker to create the overlays and then use Overlay Sender (a separate application) to use the overlays with the IntelliKeys on other computers.  Overlay Sender installs with Overlay Maker and, I think, also with the Classroom Suite.  If you look in the IntelliTools folder on your hard drive (where Overlay Maker resides) you will find a separate folder for Overlay Sender.  Just copy that folder and put it on as many computers as you wish.  To use Overlay Sender follow the directions below:

When you create an overlay save a second copy of the file in this fashion:

1. Under the File menu choose "Save As Send-Only"

2.  Save the file to your desktop, USB drive or other location.

3. Copy the file to a disk or portable drive and transfer to other computers.

4.  Also copy the Overlay Sender application to the other computers.

5.  Make sure that an IntelliKeys keyboard is connected and turned on.

6.  Now when you double-click the Send-Only overlay it will find the Overlay Sender application and it will be sent to the IntelliKeys.
