What is the hot topic or buzz word in Washington state right now in the area of AAC?

Since moving from Florida, I'm not sure what is important in this state.  It seems to vary from state to state as to what is hot and what is not.

I don't know about state-wide, but a hot topic in our district is the use of Pragmatically Organized Dynamic Display (PODD) systems.  There was a poster session at CEC in April that appeared well-attended.  Are people using this system with students using Partner Assisted Scanning?  In any other format?  Are there any recommendations about systematically introducing it to students and families?

I have been using the PODD systems this spring at North Thurston School District.  I think these systems are fabulous!  I have had some good results using it with students.  I have primarily been using them with direct selection students, and using significant amounts of modeling with them to get it started.  Parents and staff (not the students) are at first a little overwhelmed by the books, but it doesn't take too long to get them using them.  We have Linda Burkhart coming in December to present on the PODD systems and how to use them.
